| Origin: | I purchased this sculpture from a gallery in Pittsburgh, PA. The stone was carved in Greece by the artist. It is the artist rendition of the Greek Goddess Europa after her rape by Zeus, the mightiest of the Greek Gods. | |

| History Of The Item: | There were a number of resources used to make the evaluation about the artist. Bursztynowicz was a local Pennsylvania sculptor around the height of the abstract expressionist movement and the pop art movement. There is very little publication information about the artist, with little documentation other than a few of his other works which resemble the works of Henry Moore in style. He was married in 1963 to a fashion model Louise Evans Scott. |

| Appraiser Tips: | The piece appears to be in pristine, if not perfect condition. The small noted nick at the bottom of the sculpture can be polished by a professional restorative artist, but the value may be compromised. Otherwise besure to keep the piece out of the direct path of sunlight. It is a good idea to keep this piece on its base against a wall. |

| Appraiser Comments: | In general this piece is a beautiful example of sculptor produced by a lesser known contemporary of Henry Moore and the abstract expressionists in America. He has a somewhat interesting past and should be appreciated for this fact. |
